Beville
May is a former practicing attorney who now consults with clients to help them prevent and
resolve lawsuits.She conducts claims
prevention programs, investigations of claims, negotiations and mediations.
Beville
has conducted investigations for clients as diverse as international banking
concerns and small community theaters. Her impartial investigations
include workplace claims, credit card fraud, sexual harassment and
transportation claims. She
has taught hundreds of lawyers and human resource professionals around the
country how to conduct effective investigations. Cases against her clients have been dismissed by
administrative agencies and the courts on the strength of her investigative
reports.
Beville
is known nationally for her work in sexual harassment law. She has
participated in four landmark sexual harassment cases, including cases before
the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts and the United States Supreme
Court. She tried and won the first sexually hostile work environment
case, Broderick v. Ruder.
While
working for a transportation company, Beville helped resolve transportation and
discrimination claims by negotiating favorable settlements.She also acted as an advocate for the company
in successful mediations.Beville is
known for her negotiated settlement in the Broderick case, where
she obtained a permanent injunction and agency-wide relief against the United
States Securities & Exchange Commission.
Beville
is a volunteer mediator with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's National
Mediation Program.She is an Adjunct
Faculty member at PennStateUniversity's Graduate Professional School where she teaches
courses in Conflict Resolution and Negotiations.
A frequent speaker, Beville enjoys addressing audiences on ways to prevent lawsuits and how properly to conduct investigations of employee claims. She has spoken to audiences both here and abroad, and has appeared on national television and radio. She is also a published author, and is a columnist for Intellenet's quarterly newsletter. Intellenet is a world-wide network of investigators and security consultants.
A High Honors graduate of ColgateUniversity, Beville received her law degree from Case
Western Reserve University School of Law.She is a member of the Chester County Human Resource Association,
Greater Philadelphia Senior Executive Group, and she sits on the Board of
Brandywine Youth Polo which teaches youngsters horsemanship skills,
sportsmanship and polo at no cost.
